Dundee Healthcare Records

The next Friends of Dundee City Archives Lunchtime Talk will be given by Jan Merchant, Archivist at the University of Dundee Archives. Jan will be giving a snapshot of the healthcare records that are held at the University Archives. This include the records of NHS Tayside, covering the Dundee Royal Infirmary, Dundee Royal Lunatic Asylum and Sunnyside Royal Asylum, Montrose. Come along if you’d like to find out more.

The talk will showcase the kinds of administration, staff and patient records held at the University Archive. Jan will explore the kinds of health issues people faced and look at the local area’s boards, hospital and asylum collections, including the large institutions like DRI and Liff as well as smaller ones such as Monifieth’s Gerrard’s Trust.

Jan’s talk will take place on Thursday 4th January, 1pm, at the Glasite Hall on King Street. It’s free entry to all FDCA Lunchtime Talks and everyone is welcome – you don’t need to be a member of the friends. See the FDCA website for more information.
